Summer Catch up

Okay so its been forever since I've posted so now I'm playing catch up. Here's what's been going on over the past 2 months.
Gavin loves the hose. He's been watering the lawn a lot lately, well...one spot at a time. It usually puddles up and then I have to move it to a different place.
Gavin pointing to his belly button. He's really good at pointing to a lot of his different, beautiful, features. His most recent is Chin.
Watching some football. Matt took off to the gym and left the game on, so Gavin just picked up where he left off. He even says "Foobaaall." He's so smart. :)

Boating. We went Wake boarding a couple of weeks back. Gavin is so calm and mellow on the boat. It's the funniest thing. Now, if we could only get him to sit that still in church we'd be golden.

Already taking over. Hmmm, would I trust him to pull me? Probably not. Sorry buddy!

Officially taking over the driver seat. Where are the adults here?!
Over the past few months we've got some really nice comments on how well Gavin's head has rounded out since our difficult issue earlier on. Here, you can see it's still not where it should be, but its perfect to us!

Look at this face. Some of my favorite moments are in the morning when he wakes up and we just cuddle downstairs watching Curious George. After that 30 minutes, I get him breakfast, and then and onlythen, he's ready to take on the day. Look at that cute face! I love him so much.

Annnnnd, here's the real Gavin, he sleeps like this all the time. I go in the check on him every night, and each night I climb into bed laughing and Matt will ask, "What's our little Rump-rump look like tonight?" He is the funniest sleeper. Whatever gets him through the night. :)

Getting ready for church. He noticed him and daddy had similar shoes, so he walked right up to Matt, who was brushing his teeth, and just stood there next to him. Like father, like son.

Showing off his handsomeness before church. His hair has got some much lighter this summer. I remember when it was dark, dark brown.

We finally bought Matt a new car. We were really looking into a truck, but after some prayer, communication, and sacrifice we, or I should say he, decided on a car. It was a better fit he said for our family, and he's always looking out for us first. He is such a great guy, always willing to do the right thing financially. Even when all our friends have trucks, he buckles down and wants to do whats best for our family, sacrificing his wants. Im so, so, so, so, happy I have a husband who isn't "man-toy" crazy.

Here it is, just a little thing. Volvo s40 with only 40,000 miles on it. Such a good deal and in the top 3 safest cars on the road. So we bought it straight up. Plus, it gets 36-miles to the gallon on the free way! Did I mention words cannot expres how happy I am that Matt makes smart, mature, husband decisions for our family. Amazing man!

I took this picture because Gavin was lying on the floor just talking to himself. He was making me laugh cause he would say words I knew like, "Ball, foot, shoe, nummy, juice, ear, dog, hat"...then a ton of words that make no sense. I love being home with him. He always brings a smile to my face.

Look at that Face! Gavin LOVES the Volvo. He always runs to it and climbs in the passenger seat. Matt's taken him around our little cul-de-sac loop a couple of times and he just beams!

I asked Gavin to smile with his teeth and this is what I got. He's getting some new ones this week and its been rough, but overall he has been such a trooper.
Weird picture to end on buuuuutt, it fits our life. Every moment I cherish, even the funny weird ones.
The summer has gone by so fast, but we're really looking forward to the next 6 months. Vacation for our 7 year anniversary, Matt's 30th birthday, Halloween with Gavin, Thanksgiving with hopefully my whole family, Christmas, followed by Gavin's 2nd birthday in February with a trip to see Matt's family for Margaret's wedding!!! I can't wait for them to see Gavin. He is such a little man and he's grown tons since they've seen him last. I'm really excited. We can't wait! Hopefully I'll be better and keeping this updated. Until then......

Gavin's First Hair Cut

It's official, we got Gavin's hair cut! Before I get to that, there are some pictures I've taken over the past month. They're pretty good because you can see how long his hair had got and how badly he needed to get it cut....or better said, how badly WE needed to get it cut for him.
Here is our wonderful son watching "A special witness of Christ." He always goes right up to the screen when it starts and just stares. Gavin looks at him for about 30 seconds while Hinckley talks, then goes about playing again. It's very cute and touching for me to watch. Every time, the same thing.
Ok this picture is blurry but I think it's so cute. Rocking out on Grandma Hill's play-horse. He thought it was fun, until he fell off.

Look at that body!! He was playing with his cousin Ashley's beads. I love those chubby little legs.

Getting a closer look before he puts them on. He really likes these, again, for about 30 seconds. He thinks they are the coolest thing ever, puts them on, and then it's off to something else.

Here he is trying to put them on. Sometimes he misses and puts them behind his head.

Okay, here is one of the pictures I took of Gavin eating. I put his hair up because it kept getting in his eyes. We were letting him eat lunch in the front doorway because it was nice out and dad was doing yard work. Yes, it was really long. Doesn't he look funny though?! Matt and I were cracking-up. This wasn't the first or last time we did this. :)

W egive Gavin his baths at night. Afterwards, I always try to comb it down and over. So you can see, it doesn't look so out of control when its all in place. The funny thing is Gavin is my son, Gavin is Matt's son, so that means he loves to move around! When he plays, it doesn't stay in place for long. I love his eyes here!

The day before Fathers day, Matt and I took him to Sports Shear for his first hair cut. Here they are waiting for our hair dresser-person to be ready. Matt calls this Gavin's hippie-hair picture.

In the chair, I'm desperately trying to express to this woman that this is his first time and I really DO NOT want to go super short. Gavin was just hangin out, do his thing which is looking cute and sticking his belly out. I love his leg in this picture too.

And so it begun.

The bangs go first. We thought he looked like" Dumb and Dumber" at first, which was making me nervous.

As she went on, Gavin was still doing really, really well. No crying, no screaming, no trying to get away, but he was starting to get uneasy every time she brought the scissors by his ears. He didn't like that!

This was towards the end when he was getting restless and wanted to be done with the whole thing. He never cried, but he got close here. I kept talking to him, and he would look over at me with these eyes that said,
"I trust you so I won't freak-out, But that doesn't mean I have to like it. This better end real soon mom!"

Getting shorter.

Checking out all the sides.

The happy end result. Shorter and much better. Good-Bye mullet. He loved his sucker, and I really mean LOVED! I was so proud of him, he did so well. The woman who cut his hair said he did amazing for his first time.

His royal Hansomeness. I'm glad we got it cut and it does look a lot better. I'm also so glad he held-up and didn't freak out. One of the other nice things they did was give us a lock of his hair with a big certificate that said First Hair Cut, dates, time, place, people, and some other little details. It's going straight to his Baby book.
Happy Fathers Day Matt. You get a very hansom son, with a dashing new hair cut, who also loves you, and not to mention, a wife who adores you.
